7 Simple Tricks to Deal with Dental Anxiety of Your Child

Do you have fears or anxieties about seeing a dentist? Maybe your children are anxious about trips to the dentist. Yet you know you and your children should go. Dental check-ups are essential to help prevent tooth decay.

You’re not alone. Many people have anxiety about seeing their dentist – even if they’ve only ever had good experiences. That’s because anxiety is usually fear about a future event. You’re worried about something that might happen.

“ Seek recommendations from family and friends. You could also do some research online. ”

If you have dental anxiety, it’s vital to choose a dentist who will listen and acknowledge your fears. If they can’t be empathetic when you’re talking to them, it’s likely they won’t be during treatment either.

“I have been a patient at this practice for several years and had my first appointment with Zia Rehman today. I have to agree with the other posts, he is a very calm and considerate dentist. I was quite nervous but he was very gentle. I didn’t feel the needle go in at all and he gave me lots of breaks to rest my mouth while doing the filling. If you are nervous about the dentist I would definitely recommend him.”

“The practice claims that they are patient oriented, and having gone to them recently for the first time, they certainly are. Talking to patients about their treatment both overall, and then step by step, working at the patients pace, etc, helped overcome a long term fear of dentists. Wish I had found them sooner. Highly recommended.”
